Continuing Support on Your Recovery Journey

At Porch Light Health, we understand the importance of flexible, accessible, and effective treatment options. Our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP) is specifically designed to support individuals seeking recovery from the comfort of their homes while maintaining a structured, therapeutic environment. Led by experienced and fully licensed therapists Steve Carleton and Jackie Adams, LCSWs, and CASs, this program combines cutting-edge therapeutic techniques with the convenience of virtual access.

VIOP Program Overview

Daytime Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 AM to 12 PM
Evening Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6 PM to 9 PM
Duration: 3 weeks (27 hours total)
Format: Closed cohort group (participants start and finish with the same peer group)

All sessions of our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program are conducted virtually, ensuring accessibility and confidentiality. We utilize a HIPAA-compliant platform that guarantees the privacy and security of all communications. Participants will require an iPad or a computer located in a secure and private space to join the sessions, enabling them to engage in therapy from the comfort of their own homes without compromising the quality of the interaction or the effectiveness of the treatment.

Curriculum for the Virtual IOP

Our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program is structured around a carefully designed curriculum that focuses on several key therapeutic approaches, each selected for their proven effectiveness in supporting recovery and personal growth. Over the course of three weeks, participants will engage in a variety of sessions totaling 27 hours, which are structured to provide an immersive and transformative experience.

Mindfulness-Based Techniques

At the heart of our curriculum are the mindfulness-based techniques that teach clients how to stay present and engaged at the moment. These practices help reduce stress and anxiety by focusing on the here and now, allowing for a greater sense of calm and control over one's responses.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

A cornerstone of our program, CBT helps clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns that can contribute to substance abuse and mental health issues. Through CBT, participants learn practical skills to modify these thoughts, which in turn, can alter their behaviors and emotions towards more positive outcomes.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is incorporated to help clients live a value-driven life. This approach encourages participants to accept things as they are, rather than denying or fighting reality, and commit to actions that improve and enrich their lives according to their values. This is particularly useful in managing emotional distress and preventing relapse.

Relapse Prevention Planning

A critical component of recovery is planning for potential challenges. Our curriculum includes intensive training in relapse prevention strategies, where clients develop personalized plans that address their specific triggers and outline proactive steps for maintaining sobriety. This planning is supported by skills learned through mindfulness, CBT, and ACT.

Post-VIOP, clients are invited to join our step-down groups, which consist of a 12-week relapse prevention program that meets twice weekly for one-hour sessions.

Therapeutic Assignments

Throughout the program, clients are given assignments that encourage deep reflection and application of the skills learned. These assignments are tailored to individual experiences and goals, fostering personal insight and growth.

Each client is assigned a dedicated therapist for personalized care. Assessments and treatment plans are developed collaboratively, with at least one individual session scheduled before the completion of the IOP to plan ongoing support and follow-up care.

By the end of the three weeks, participants will have not only learned these critical skills but also practiced them extensively, preparing them to effectively manage their recovery and maintain their progress long-term. Our goal is to empower each participant with the knowledge and skills to achieve lasting sobriety and well-being.
