The Journal’s report on Cortez’s expanding recovery community features Porch Light Health (formerly Cortez Addiction Recovery Services) as a driver of that growth. Since integrating with CARS in October 2023, the Cortez clinic has gone from offering medication-assisted treatment (MAT) just one day a week to walk-in appointments with MAT providers Monday through Friday, alongside early-recovery groups, a teen support group, anger-management support, and peer support specialists.
Clinic director Crystal Robson tells the paper the goal is to “meet people where they’re at,” noting that Porch Light accepts Medicaid and several private insurances and can support uninsured patients through state grants. Peer support specialist Vibes Volansky, 11 years sober, is highlighted for helping clients navigate the courts and connect with community resources. The wider piece also covers Montezuma County’s first sober living home (Silver Lining Recovery Homes) and local court diversion efforts.

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside of it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
